About Me-Frank's Home Help

My Story of How I Became So Handy and Experienced with Tools

Hello, thanks for visiting my site. I have been a long-time resident of Pinellas County. My wife and I decided to raise our son in this wonderful community over 20 years ago.

Working with my hands is my passion. I love building and repairing stuff, it gives me a sense of accomplishment. I have been helping friends and family with all kinds of projects that require tools my whole life.

I Received my first tool set and a gas-powered minibike for Christmas at the age of 7 years old. I put those tools right to work assembling that minibike with no problems. Assembling gifts and toys for my brothers and sister was another joy that Christmas and many more Christmases after that. When one of my friends or family needs something assembled, repaired or installed, I'm the first one they call.

When I was in my school years, all the kids in the neighborhood would bring their bicycles to me if they needed repair. I would break out my toolbox and complete the repairs (flat tire, broken cable, wobbly wheel, gear or brake adjustment, install new bearings, etc.). My parents noticed I was very mechanically inclined and handy with tools and decided to open a bicycle shop in town (Fredonia Bicycle Center, Fredonia NY) where we sold new and used bikes, parts/accessories, and repaired bikes. That was my first job that summer. I ran that shop for 15 years, then moved to Pinellas County Florida.

When I was in high school, I attended and graduated from BOCES (Board of Cooperative Educational Services). Majoring in their "Building Trades" program. The course consisted of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and masonry. We actually built a fully functional small house as our last project before graduating.

I also attended and graduated from the BOCES "Automotive" program where I learned auto mechanics and autobody. One of my projects in the class garage was fixing up and customizing this old rusty 68 Chevy van I bought. I had to replace the motor, fix the rust and paint it and customize the interior.

My parents owned several apartments and a few house rentals that they rented out to college kids (the kids were pretty rough on those properties). When there were issues, they would have me repair or maintain the properties. I did everything (plumbing, electrical, drywall, painting, etc.).

My other work/job experience in this field consisted of 7 years working as a product assembly technician and team leader for a company based out of Nashville TN called Product Assembly Incorporated. They had technicians all across the Southeast (I was one of them with a crew), we provided in home assemblies and serviced multiple big box store commercial accounts. We assembled anything that came in a box (bikes, furniture, grills, fitness equipment, storage buildings/sheds, swings, etc.) with instructions (Some Assembly Required) from all the big-name manufacturers.

Check out my custom page to see some of the many very unique projects I have assembled/built. Some projects were completed from kits, others from plans/diagrams and still others were my own creative design.
